open source photo and video software is extensive, amazing and infamously poorly documented. conversely, photography and cinematography have lots and lots of documentation, most of which is shaped by marketing departments to push you to go out and buy their particular equipment. i intend to take on the work of writing documentation for these crafts and projects to help others who are starting out. i've been, over the last seven years, doing multimedia work primarily in linux for projects ranging from documentaries to music videos to film festival programming, and i've been a photographer and cinematographer for about twice as long as that. i enjoy walking people through processes, especially when the process is one of filling the world with more art.
