Opensource Design Software for Additive Manufacturing
Description
With the help of Additive Manufacturing it is now possible to manufacture complex geometries. Physics driven or Goal directed design will outperform traditional machine design using 3D CAD. Traditional 3D CAD systems computes on CPU which would become a problem when dealing with complex geometries that can manufacture with additive manufacturing technology. Also through additive manufacturing customised product is a possibility. To realise a complex as well as customised product, computation have to be fast an there by shortening Product development time . This opensource work 'https://github.com/DESIGN4ADDITIVE/GPUCADforAM' is a sincere effort to address this challenge. Ultimate goal is 'Design and Manufacturing within one day' and 'lot size approaching one'. This software only uses CUDA , Vulkan, and GLFW as external dependencies and Internal Dependencies as 'Vulkan backend' modules of 'Dear Imgui'. Rest all Finite element analysis , topology optimisation , lattice structure generating and spatially varying and implicit cad modelling algorithms written in C++ and CUDA can be accessed from this repository for leaning, improving and customising. This work will help a user to experience next generation CAD software with the power of opensource. Author foreseeing a evolution of localised manufacturing centres globally.
