Description

Lunatics! is an original animated science-fiction story about the first permanent settlers on the Moon.

We are an independent, free-culture, open-movie production, made with open-source software, especially Blender.

Our episodes will be released online without any DRM or copying restrictions, and we actively encourage remixing and reusing our material, even for commercial purposes (under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license). We're also an "open movie" production, meaning that source materials (from Blender, Kdenlive, GIMP, Inkscape, Krita, Audacity, Ardour, and so on) will be included with the release.

Although Lunatics Project was conceived of as a team project in 2012, and there have been many contributors, the current project (since 2020) is just me, plugging along, trying to finish up episode one. My creative partner (and wife) Rosalyn Hunter, who is the writer and script-writer, is also theoretically still involved, but she's the one with the full-time paying job, so her contributions are small at present.

It remains my hope to scale the project back up after releasing the pilot episode.

Because we don't restrict access to our work in order to demand payment, we'll be relying on fans who are willing to voluntarily support work they like. There are a number of ways to do that, including buying related products including the DVD and HD editions of our episodes, subscriptions, donations, and/or sponsorships through:

Here on Liberapay, we do not sell anything or offer "perks" (the site doesn't allow that).

Up to $50/week, this will be offsetting our operating expenses: website, domain fees, object storage, platform fees, hardware replacements and upgrades, and so on. If we should go beyond that, overflow funds will go to the production team, according to our breakdown.

If you would prefer your funds go directly to the production team for the current/upcoming episode, then I recommend using our Gumroad sponsorships or donations, as this is regarded as a pre-sale (the episode is the product). But I personally would prefer the operating funds, as otherwise, that is coming out of my pocket!
