@Phantom-messenger
End-to-end encrypted, censorship-resistant messenger for journalists and activists.
Description
PHANTOM is an open-source messenger for people who cannot trust their network — journalists working under hostile regimes, activists in countries with internet censorship, dissidents whose communications must not be traceable.
It combines the user experience of modern messengers like Telegram with the security architecture of Signal: end-to-end encryption, sealed sender, forward secrecy.
Built with: - Kotlin Multiplatform (single codebase for Android, iOS, web) - Compose Multiplatform UI - Custom Double Ratchet implementation over libsodium - Custom Rust relay server (production-deployed in EU) - AGPL-3.0-or-later for both client and relay
Status: Currently in Alpha 2. Android client shipping, iOS port in progress. The cryptographic stack and relay protocol are documented in 8 Architecture Decision Records and a formal Threat Model in the repository.
Why donate via Liberapay: Recurring micro-donations are the most sustainable funding model for solo-maintained privacy infrastructure. Even €2/week from 50 donors covers production relay hosting and CI/CD costs indefinitely.
What your donations fund: - Maintainer compensation for full-time PHANTOM development - Production infrastructure (relay hosting, domains, monitoring) - Hardware required for cross-platform releases - External cryptographic audit (planned post-Beta)
The core messenger, relay, and cryptographic stack will remain free, open-source, and uncrippled for individual users — always.
