Introduction

Hey there! My name is Ellen Poe and I'm working on democratizing access to geospatial information. My goal for the last few years has been helping people get around in the world without sending their every move to a corporation whose sole purpose is to serve advertisements. This is something I'm extremely passionate about, and I need financial support to continue working towards this goal.

My open-source philosophy

I believe that software should be open by default. To that end, I believe that we as a community should be creating open-source software that is easy to use and serves the needs of the everyday user. This has informed the design decisions of every consumer-facing product I've created, from Headway to Cardinal Maps, the offline-capable maps app I've been working on for some time now.

Every dollar I bring in via sponsorship is a dollar I don't have to bring in some other way. Much of the software development I do is already outside of work, but I'd like to spend more time on my passion projects. Every dollar I bring in via sponsorship goes towards location data sovereignty for all.
