Description

I believe in free and public-domain software as a way to drive positive growth.

I am a software engineer who has had a decade+ career working for a few companies, and I want to become completely independent! I am passionate about software, specifically free and open-source, especially public-domain, software. This type of software can drastically improve the world through free and unencumbered usage for positive change.

I am doing this through a few sites, including LiberaPay, to provide ways to support my software development activities.

I am working on quite a few projects in the background, and creating a non-profit software foundation called Hyry Software Foundation to provide and work on applications and service projects, with professional-level software engineering, strictly for the public benefit (this is my true underlying passion that I have always wanted to act on, and now I have the chance to do so)!

I am creating a private-benefit company called Hyry Software Solutions to provide professional software engineering services that will support my general well-being and living expenses!

Projects I am working on include:

  • A Backup and Restore solution called BackrUppr that is independent of major companies/cloud providers but that interacts with major storage providers, and allows you to completely customize what and how your stuff is backed up, including where it is backed up to, with a desktop client and a mobile app for major mobile platforms
  • A log management platform called LogThreadz that is more intuitive than and just as powerful as the best log management and analysis solutions (ELK, Splunk, Grafana, et al) with clients and libraries for all major platforms (common CPU architectures like amd64, arm, and i386, and Operating Systems like Windows, macOS, and Linux) and languages (JVM, .Net CLR, Rust, C/C++, Go, JS/TS, and Ruby to start, more added if there is interest in other languages!)
  • A very simple and powerful C++ testing library called TestCPP
  • A GitHub Action called StaticAnalysis-MoreCPP that helps analyze your C/C++ code with all the latest modern static and dynamic analysis tools, and also supports Python static analysis from upstream
  • GRH, a project to help people struggling with gambling addiction through the power of connecting people over the internet to meet and share their experience, strength, and hope with each other. This is meant to be a compliment to other indexes of resources that are currently available.

If any of these projects sound interesting and useful to you, and you'd like to support independent and public-benefit software engineering projects, please consider becoming a member!

Thanks so much for reading and hope to connect with you along the way!
