If you regularly keep coming back to my work, please consider financial support

It's a great privilege to write my work, especially at the pace and consistency I do, but it does take up a fair amount of my time and attention. For a long time, I only had a bitcoin address posted, but I felt that if I wanted to start actually receiving substantive funds for my work, I needed to make a greater effort to ask for it. Of course, I don't want to bombard you with annoying asks like how most sites do, but if you are here reading this, that means you are at least considering it; so with that, let me provide you with some of my financial context and steps you can take to make your decision.

I am blessed to have a family that does well enough financially to support me with minimal stress. However, I lack certain levels of independence as a result of leaning entirely on this support. There are good boundaries between my family and I, but I would like to make further efforts to strengthen those boundaries by having a reliable source of income for work that I deem to be financially valuable.

More than that, it costs some money to keep my website operational. Namely, ~$60 per year for my host, Neocities, and ~$20 a year for my domain, making for a yearly expenditure of around $80. For receiving financial support, that would be my absolute minimum milestone. Beyond that, I would use the funds to live a life that further allows me to write about it, and if you decide to donate, that's what you'd be paying for. Much of living in society revolves around spending money, so more money spent means more stories to tell.

Of course, this is within a small means. I don't expect to go viral or break containment outside of the Indie Web any time soon, and even if I did, that wouldn't yield much more outside of what attention I do receive for my work. Not only do I not want to make a bunch of money writing, but I want to do the best I can to maintain it as a libre, non-commercial entity. So if you support that ethos and regularly come back to the site, I strongly urge you to financially support my work.

Ways to Donate

I'd recommend either a small monthly donation of $1–3 or a one-time/yearly donation of $20–30. Between the two, I would most prefer the small monthly donation since it is a more reliable gauge of income. Of course, if I stop producing my work at a reasonable pace or you find yourself not wishing to read it anymore, then please rescind your donation.

There are no extras you would receive outside of reading my work for free, and everything I do will always be available to anyone who needs it and supports what I do. However, a substantial income would most likely allow me to produce even more than I already do, so if you want more work in the future, please donate.
