OpenAPK is a community-driven, independent repository dedicated to free and open-source (FOSS) Android apps. By leveraging the GitHub API, we ensure that new releases are reflected on our platform within hours, providing users with quick access to updated software. Currently a web interface for downloading and installing FOSS apps, we’re working to evolve OpenAPK into a repository compatible with third-party clients like F-Droid, broadening its reach. We don’t store or vet APK files ourselves—our focus is on linking users directly to trusted sources, prioritizing security and transparency. Donations are vital to sustain this project: they fund server costs, support the development of a mobile app to scan for installed FOSS apps and notify users of updates, and help us maintain a reliable, user-friendly platform.
