Description

We are two journalists from Radio Student, an independent radio station from Slovenia. Our core project is a radio broadcast called "Tehno klistir" (techno enema) on regulation of technology and its social perspective. It is one hour long, aired each month and published as a podcast on Radio Student's website (https://radiostudent.si/dru%C5%BEba/tehno-klistir). We cover information technology policies, free software and open source and related events. Some topics we have covered so far are: critique of the centralised nature of the domain name system and privatisation of the internet infrastructure, regulation and governance of the internet, promotion of free software and federated/decentralized solutions, digital colonialism etc. We also prepare news on these subjects in other, shorter broadcasts (and here).

Additionally, we've organised free-to-participate workshops on using open source software and hardware (command line audio @ tresk festival and building a Dactyl keyboard at associate art&science laboratory Ljudmila). Our show is running for the third yearly season but the work is quite labour intensive and, apart from access to the radio's production facilities and a small monthly compensation (split between us both), voluntary, additional costs like travel, preparation and material for workshops et cetra is not covered.

We are trying to reach out more and upgrade our production process by improving the quality of our content, producing english podcasts, building a dual language website, presenting our work as a whole. Additionally, we would like to organize more public events / a conference, to bring privacy and autonomy oriented solutions closer to the grasp of the general public.

Yours sincerely, Jurij Podgoršek and Lio Novelli
