Weathered Steel is a software and hardware development cooperative focused on Free Open Source Software (FOSS) and Free Open Source Hardware (FOSH).

As part of our ongoing journey to become a Public Benefit company (B Corp), our mission is to contribute to the FOSS and FOSH ecosystems for the common good. We already maintain a number of projects freely available to the public. One of the core goals of the cooperative is to sustain contributions to FOSS and FOSH projects.

Consultation & Contracting

We perform consultation and contract services to both develop and integrate software solutions for businesses and individuals.

Our main focus is on FOSS solutions. However, we are open to work on projects with mixed FOSS/proprietary, and fully proprietary software. Software & Operational Security

We offer consultation and contract services for security audits, testing, and training.

We have experience hardening software and infrastructure security through audits, testing, and secure programming practices.

Rather than one-off engagements, we prefer maintaining an ongoing relationship to improve secure programming and operational practices.

It is important for an organization to internalize and develop the process of self-improvement, independent of our services. We strive to provide the tools necessary to succeed on a path of lifelong learning.

Community Events

We host events open to the public for collaborative programming, studying, and project presentations.

All events are free-of-charge.

Attendees are free to contribute donations towards covering event costs.
